Alberto Gordo

Alberto Gordo (Sahagún, León, 1988) is a translator and cultural journalist. He has contributed to cultural magazines such as La Lectura in El Mundo, and Letras Libres, and has worked as a book reviewer for El Cultural, where he currently contributes as a literary critic. He has translated from German works by Franz Kafka, Stefan Zweig, Joseph Roth, Walter Benjamin, Eugen Ruge, Esther Kinsky, Annemarie Schwarzenbach, Franziska zu Reventlow, Ludwig Winder, Else Lasker-Schüler, and Ernst Weiss among others, and he is also a publisher's reader for for Acantilado, Periférica, and Literatura Random House.

In 2019, he was awarded the Valentín García Yebra Translation Prize for his translation of "The Other," an unpublished story by Arthur Schnitzler. In 2021, he received the Literary Creation Grant from the Ministry of Culture to write his first novel, Thomasiusstrasse.
